Generation Clashes
To thrive in today’s multi-generational workplace, CEOs and executives must understand the diverse values and preferences of Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Gen Z. There are four main generations in the workplace with different attitudes and behaviours:
- Boomers – (1946-1964)
- Generation X – (1965-1980)
- Millennials – (1981-1996)
- Gen Z – (1997-2012)

Boomers and Millennials are the two biggest cohorts. They are each twice the size of Generation X.

- Generation X: will be taking over from boomers; value parenting and life balance
- Millennials: ambitious; multicultural ease; environmentally conscious; value a network of friends at work; talk to their parents daily
