Meet Steve Baker
Steve Baker is a Vancouver-based MacKay Forum Chair, 13-year MacKay Alumni member, and seasoned executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in CFO and CEO roles, specializing in financial strategy, operational excellence, and business growth. With a proven track record in scaling startups and guiding organizations through complex financial landscapes, Steve has successfully built and led two companies, generating over $150 million in revenue.
As a Fractional CFO, Steve partners with small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) to provide high-level financial expertise without the need for a full-time CFO. His approach is deeply strategic—before engaging with any client, he prioritizes understanding both business and personal goals to develop tailored financial strategies that drive long-term success.
Steve‘s leadership extends across multiple industries, including manufacturing, transportation, logistics, professional services, and the non-profit sector. He has held executive roles in multinational corporations, managed financial turnarounds for family-run businesses, and led major financial restructuring initiatives. His expertise includes raising capital, financial planning and analysis, cash flow management, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) system development.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Steve is a dedicated board leader and advocate for conservation efforts. He currently serves as Chair of the Board for the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y), where he has helped grow the board and expand staff from 8 to over 40 employees.
