Bio

Through his advisory firm, The Playford Performance Group, James helps CEOs and senior leaders turn clarity into real execution. His work combines strategic planning, executive coaching, and facilitation through the Strategic Performance System™, a methodology built to close the gap between the plan and the performance. His clients span many industries including manufacturing, development, real estate, marketing, consumer packaged goods, hospitality, professional services, healthcare, and technology.

James serves as Forum Chair for two MacKay CEO Forums and as Fractional COO of CRWN.ai, an IoT company building predictive maintenance technology. He also serves on the Interior Transformation Council for the BC Cancer Foundation and leads PPG’s annual pro bono executive coaching in the not-for-profit sector. His advisory and coaching work is grounded in senior operational leadership, including national responsibility for a 2,000-person business unit within a publicly traded enterprise.

He holds a BFA in Fine Art Photography, a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University, and completed the Associate Certified Coach credential through the International Coaching Federation.

James lives in Kelowna, British Columbia with his partner Robin and their dogs. Outside of work, he is most often found hiking, golfing, and fishing with friends and family, or most happily tending to the garden and sharing the rewards of the harvest with others.
